The matrix helps you give the information Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 requires; what each dish contains, traces included, remains the venue's responsibility.
A chart has to be reprinted every time the menu changes. In the digital menu the information always stays in step.
In Takeat every dish carries its allergens: guests see them while they choose, without having to ask.
A guest with an allergy hides the dishes that contain it and finds the right ones straight away.
Changed a recipe? Update the dish once and the information is right everywhere, with no reprints.
The ones in Annex II of Regulation (EU) 1169/2011: cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soybeans, milk, nuts, celery, mustard, sesame seeds, sulphur dioxide and sulphites, lupin, molluscs.
Yes. Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 requires guests to be told about the allergens in the dishes, non-prepacked food included, and in Italy Legislative Decree 231/2017 sets the penalties. A written chart, on the menu or available to guests, is the simplest way to do it.
Traces from cross-contamination are not among the Regulation's requirements, but flagging them to people with allergies is good practice and protects the venue. You can add them in a note or tell guests directly.
With Takeat's digital menu the allergens are on every dish and guests see them while they choose. The first five restaurants to sign up use it for free.
